6. “Friend from Foe”

been five AM for quite some time

with every turn there are no signs

but i'm doing the best i can

cause without you or a plan

i think i'm falling prey

to a heart that can no longer separate friend from foe

round and round the world we'll go

until we forget our safest thirst

and heavy-filled suspicion fades

unless the world forgets us first

i got a lot drifting through my mind

that i concealed when you were close behind

cause i haven't been myself

in so long, but couldn't tell

now i've become the one

that doesn't need this running anymore

i took a train out to the beach

but found the skyline beyond my reach

you keep your tongue behind your teeth

every time that our lips meet

so come, come, come out West for me

we'll find ourselves for long enough to grieve

i hope you come around    (come, come, come out West for me)

before the sun goes down

just don't act so surprised   (we'll find ourselves for long enough to grieve)

by the love you find

from me
